Take off for a career in the surf industry
Prendiville Catholic College is located near the ocean so it's not surprising many of our students forge a close spiritual relationship with the sea.
The Prendiville logo draws on this connection with the ocean, as part of the school cross is designed as a series of waves, symbolising spiritual strength and gentleness.
Many of our students are drawn to the ocean for a number of recreational reasons, whether it be swimming, sailing, fishing or surfing.
The College encourages students to continue this relationship through a number of programmes. The Physical Education Department's Surf Science programme will continue to foster that special affinity with this great wonder.
Surfing has long been considered an attractive lifestyle sport. Few other recreational pursuits combine relaxation, fitness, travel, career, family, socialisation, and environmental conservation the way that surfing does. From what was an informal, relaxing and spiritual pastime, a structured and developed sport has evolved.
Ever increasing media coverage of the sport has exposed the world to an attractive and exciting
sport that is a creative expression of athleticism with the allure of travel, discovery and culture. Professional surfers can now forge successful careers competing on the world circuit for big prize money and even bigger endorsements from multinational companies.
The surf industry has grown rapidly to cater to the increasing popularity of the sport worldwide, to both participants and spectators. This global expansion has created employment opportunities in new and existing career pathways.
